Mt. Sinai Holy Church had its beginning in the year 1947, in Jacksonville, North Carolina in the home of Deacon Willie Shores and Mother Lossie Shores. During that year a prophet came to their home and told Mother Shores a church would be built on Ford Street. Soon thereafter, Mother Shores began services in her living room until the house could no longer accommodate the crowd and the small congregation moves into a small cabin. God poured out His rich blessings and the small congregation brought a tent. After a lot of hard work, the little white church pictured above was completed in 1949.
The Holy Ghost showered down on Mt. Sinai and the Church continued to grow and prosper. The membership purchased the property and relocated to a new sanctuary on Arnold Road. Like the Prophet Job, the members of Mt. Sinai endured many hardships and in 1979 Mother Shores and the faithful members of Mt. Sinai returned to Ford Street to rebuild a new sanctuary.
Here at the original site where the prophetic word was first given, through Divine inspiration and guidance, Mother Shores and her followers found new faith and courage to rebuild the present-day sanctuary.
In 2011, the Lord called Pastor Lossie Shores home to Glory and the mantle was passed to her daughter, Pastor Cynthia Shores Gray. Pastor Cynthia and Co-Pastor Alexander Gray continue to serve and strive to connect people to Jesus Christ and to each other.
